Matchmoving is a very important and sought after technique. It’s an art all on it’s own. Making your audience believe that the 3d matches the live video so well that they forget they are looking at 3d. In this example we will cover a portion of the process of bringing footage into MatchMover converting it into 3d data and importing it into Maya. We will also cover a very cool technique by texturing the scene using projection mapping.

Note: If your matchmove looks great in MatchMover, and you bring the trackers into Maya and your geometry isn’t matching the movement of your camera. Take a cube or any simple primitive and move it around until it moves correctly with the rest of your footage. Sometimes even though it looks like it’s in the correct place it isn’t, and a simple fix is to move it forward and backwards in space. This is definitely a cool project so make sure you check it out!
