Text Mask Tutorial
Feb 23, 2011
There are a few recommendations I should point out. First, don’t make to many what I was calling “inner shells”, unless your text is really deep. They kind of blend together, so make sure you render out an occlusion pass to separate the inner shells. Second, if you are going to do a camera cut like I did. Make sure you render the angle of the two cameras far enough away from each other that your audience realizes what’s happening. If you render them to close together, they will get confused and not understand what just happened. Lastly, make sure you playblast your animation as many times as it takes to make sure you can see what’s going on clearly. I noticed after I rendered mine out that it goes a little fast, and it doesn’t get the point across of what’s happening as strongly as I hoped for. With that in mind, let’s get started. I’m really excited to work on this tut with you.
